Create, Express, & Achieve With Us

Barrier-Free began with a desire to fill a need in the community, a need for an inclusive, creative space to enhance the life quality of one of our most underserved populations, adults with disabilities.

Our mission is to provide inclusive art, self-advocacy, and social programming for adults with disabilities in the community. Barrier-Free's inclusive design brings together people of all abilities to create, express, and achieve together.

Barrier-Free is also passionate about helping families with transition-age family members.  Enrolling in a Barrier-Free program helps young adults form their self-concept, continue social learning, develop independence, and feel part of an interconnected and supportive community.

Barrier-Free
is 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the portion of the US Internal Revenue Code that allows for federal tax exemption of nonprofit organizations.

Theater

We offer two inclusive theater companies where adults 18+ come together to create original one-act musicals.

Our seasons are 7 months long and culminate with a performance at McDaniel Theater.

Outreach

Book Barrier-Free's performance group, small groups, or creative team members to provide outreach, advocacy, workshop events, and more.  Help us create a more inclusive world for all!

The Studio

At our Life Skills & Social Studio, neurodiverse adults 18+ work to develop life skills and social skills through an integrated-arts model with a focus on interpersonal interaction, authentic practice, and group collaboration.

Skill Coaching

Our highly skilled staff offer individualized, tailored skill coaching. Offerings include academic coaching, independent living skills, job coaching, dating coaching, and more.

Social

Barrier-Free offers a monthly social club outing for neurodiverse adults 18+ currently involved in Barrier-Free programs.

These are staffed events with the goal of building  friendship and developing independent life skills.

Music

Music Mike offers one-on-one music and instrumental lessons, a weekly jam session, and group classes.

No prior musical experience required to enjoy these offerings!
