 Expressive Arts Programs

Create, express, & achieve with us.

Barrier-Free's expressive arts programs are the perfect opportunity to "test-drive" our inclusive programming model before joining an Inclusive Theater Company.  Classes are taught by highly-skilled teaching artists and cover a range of topics from dance, improv, friendship-building, and more!

Spring Classes

Spring classes are open to individuals of all abilities 18+ with a supportive environment for neurodivergent adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and autism. Classes are open to new & returning Barrier-Free participants, no prior experience is required!

Silly Songs with Music Mike

During this eight-week course, participants will gain confidence in their own voice through singalongs, music games, and songwriting workshops, culminating in an original song written by the whole group and recorded during rehearsals. ​

Broadway Bound: Intro to Musical Theater

Get ready to step into the spotlight! This spring, we're bringing you an exciting class that explores the magical world of musical theatre. Our talented teaching artists will guide you through the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing, helping you to develop the skills of a Broadway star. Don't miss this opportunity to join us and experience the thrill of musical theatre. It's going to be All that Jazz and more!

Additional Information

"Test Run" Policy
Barrier-Free offers a 2-week trial period for all classes!  

If you would like to take advantage of our two-session trial period simply:
  1. Register for any class via the online registration.
  2. Select "check payment" to bypass the online payment requirement.
  3. Email info@barrierfreemd.com or call/text 301-799-8669 to let us know you'd like to take advantage of our two class trial option.
  4. Attend the first two classes.  If you love our program and want to continue, submit check payment for the FULL class payment* at the third class or email us to let us know you'd like to pay online. 

*Participants are still responsible for the full class tuition after the first two-weeks, the two free sessions are not pro-rated and deducted from the class payment.

Payment Options
  1. Pay in full via online credit card payment when registering.
  2. Pay via mailed check to 7520 Main St #103 Sykesville, MD 21784. Check must be received prior to the start of class.
  3. Cash payments not accepted
Funding Options
  • Barrier-Free services are eligible for a variety of funding types including Autism Waiver, DDA -Self-Direct, LISS, Cardin Scholarships, and others.
  • Please contact us directly to coordinate funding opportunities, request invoices, or other funding matters.
Participant agreement
When registering for each class and social club, participants must agree to and sign the following agreement:

I agree to behave in an appropriate and professional manner at every in-person or online class.   I agree to arrive on time and prepared for each class.   I agree to respect others and their ideas.   I agree to respect and care for all equipment required for the class.   I know that Barrier-Free has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, violent behavior, sexual/physical harassment, and bullying (including cyberbullying).  If I participate in any of these specific kinds of behavior, no warnings (verbal and/or written) will be given. I will be simply dismissed from the program immediately and will receive no refund.  I understand that I am expected to follow all of the agreements listed above.  If I do not, I will first be given a verbal warning. If there is a violation again, I will then have a written warning. The third time, I will either be put on a probation or dismissed from the program.  I understand that I am responsible to arrange for my own transportation to and from in-person classes and agree to be picked up on time.   I agree to be photographed and have my name shared via Barrier-Free's website and social media.  Above all, I will always do my best and have fun!
