Barrier-Free's Inclusive Theater Companies proudly present Critical Condition & Last Call at City Hall! 📣 ONE WEEKEND ONLY Friday, March 20 | 7pm Saturday, March 21 | 7pm Sunday, March 22 | 2pm 📍McDaniel College Theater Act I: Critical Condition: A Comedy of Medical Errors Welcome to St. Gary’s Memorial Hospital, where the staff is exhausted, the emergencies are nonstop, and “budget cuts” are the explanation for… everything. When a group of wealthy donors arrive for a hospital tour, the team scrambles to impress them—while juggling dramatic injuries, chaotic patients, and a string of medical mix-ups that spiral wildly out of control. Packed with big laughs, physical comedy, music, and fast-paced ensemble moments, Critical Condition is a high-energy musical comedy that proves that in this hospital, the biggest emergency might be the staff itself. Act II: Last Call at City Hall In a small town, a nonpartisan mayoral race is about to get messy—fast. One candidate wants “No books!” while the other wants “No booze!” and the local news team is doing their best to report the chaos with (somewhat) professional composure. But when influencers start digging, secrets spill, scandals explode, and the community demands answers. Last Call at City Hall is a sharp, hilarious musical packed with bold characters, political absurdity, and nonstop comedic surprises. It’s a wild ride through power, hypocrisy, and what happens when the public finally says: enough.---------------------------- Show Run Time Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with one 20 minute intermission. |

Here at Barrier-Free, we are relationship-oriented. At the start of each Inclusive theater company (ITC) season, we spend the first month of rehearsals establishing a positive group dynamic. We work to build a safe space where each person is free to take risks, be creative, build friendships, and experience individual growth.
The second part of the ITC process focuses on drama games and improv scenes. While we are having fun with these activities, we start to notice that certain themes, settings, and characters are arising. These ideas begin to shape and mold into a story that is able to be translated into a cohesive script to be rehearsed and performed.
The director also takes this time to learn each actor's unique skills, strengths, and interests so they are able to write a script that fits the needs of our actors. |
After months of rehearsals, we are ready to take our show to the stage! ITC shows are performed in a live theater space and include lights, sound, tickets, concessions, and more.
Each actor has their shining moment on stage to perform with their theatre company and earn a well deserved round-of-applause and bow at the curtain call. It is a magical experience for actors and audience members! |
